Innovations in our Hammocks |
The newest collections for 2006 offer many groundbreaking additions to the quality and durability of our hammocks.
DuraCord...
In the rope and fabric collections being offered from Hatteras Hammocks, an all new addition has been made to this line.DuraCord. This performance rope and fabric is unlike any before and is a natural addition to the Hatteras Family that has always boasted the latest innovations in our industry.
Two years ago, DuraCord was first introduced in the production of performance rope that could boast cotton like softness. This year, DuraCord fabric is being used for the first time in all new collections. DuraCord is a superior performance yarn crafted into rope and fabric that exceeds the industry standards for fade resistance (to 1000 hours of UV), stain resistance (will not sustain any microbial growth), abrasion resistance (rated excellent compared to cotton and polyester), moisture resistance and fast drying (a near zero moisture regain).
The custom designs are true fashion statements as each DuraCord fabric collection was painstakingly brought together from color palettes to the structure of the weaves. No other hammock company will be able to offer these designs. The soft hand of DuraCord is unequaled in fabric or rope offered anywhere in the outdoor industry.
CapeShield...
All of our steel products are now treated to a superior finish known as CapeShield. This powder coat finishing process incorporates the superior durability for which it is recognized for as well as the total process of cleaning, charging and coating the steel elements in the most thorough wash system to guarantee that all oils and debris gained during shipment are clear from the piece. The metal also is charged to accept the coating in the quickest and most efficient manner. In the controlled application room, the powder coating takes place prior to the baking of the pieces to permanently adhere it to the product. Four different color coatings are now available and each provides true long life in the outdoors.
Cumaru...
An exotic hardwood that is naturally so weather resistant that no finish is required. With the latest introductions from our manufacturer, Cumaru, or Brazilian Teak as it is sometimes called, will be used on all hammock spreader bars and single swing spreader bars. Cumaru is a species native to South America as it is extremely dense and rich in color and appearance. This hardwood is five times harder than pine and is rated in the most durable hardwood category of all species worldwide. With Cumaru, the application of sealers is not necessary as it naturally weathers to a beautiful silver grey patina.
